Blood Pressure Control1,2
Blood pressure should be measured in all adults during every routine visit to a physician. To help control blood pressure, lifestyle modification such as weight control, physical activity, alcohol moderation and moderate sodium intake should be stressed. If a patient’s blood pressure is 140/90 mm Hg or greater after three months of life habit modification or if initial blood pressure is greater than 160/100 mm Hg, blood pressure medication may be offered. These medications can be tailored to the patient’s requirements and characteristics.
