Preventing Heart Attacks and Death in Patients with Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease
Physical Activity2
Risk should be assessed with exercise testing, preferably, to guide the prescription.
A minimum of 30 to 60 minutes of activity, preferably daily, or at least 3 or 4 times weekly, should be encouraged. This includes walking, jogging, cycling or other aerobic activity. These activities should be supplemented by an increase in daily lifestyle activities such as walking breaks at work, gardening or household work. For those with moderate to high risk, medically supervised exercise programs should be advised. |
