Preventing Heart Attacks and Death in Patients with Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Weight Management2
The patient’s Body Mass Index (BMI) should be calculated and waist circumference measured as part of the evaluation. These metrics should also be monitored to determine the response to therapy. The desirable BMI range is 18.5–24.9 kg/m2. When the patient’s BMI is > 25 kg/m2, the goal for waist circumference is 40 inches in men and 35 inches in women.
