Coronary Revascularization

Coronary revascularization is conducted to improve prognosis, relieve symptoms, prevent ischemic complications and improve functional capacity. The decision to proceed from diagnostic angiography to revascularization and subsequent selection of the appropriate revascularization strategy is influenced by the coronary anatomy, operator experience, and a number of additional clinical factors including:1
  - Anticipated life expectancy
- Ventricular function
- Comorbidity
- Functional capacity
- Severity of symptoms
- Quantity of viable myocardium at risk

These factors and in some cases, high-risk features, may drive the decision to perform surgery while in others, less invasive choices may be appropriate.
