NCCLS Guidelines2
As an outcome of the Connectivity Consortium,7
this standard establishes a set of specifications
to allow seamless multivendor interoperability and
communication between point-of-care devices, data
concentrators and clinical information systems.
One of the goals of the new system is to get data
downloaded as soon as the user is finished, and
it is critical to be able to demonstrate that the
POC test was performed in compliance with the policy
of an overall diagnostic testing quality system
for the institution.

manual reporting procedures |
| |
|
Improve
billing and charting |
| |
|
Eliminate
the paper records of POCT administrative activities |
| |

| "The
minute the result becomes available, it needs
to travel to the patient's record. That will
generate a transaction order number, which
will generate a bill through the billing system."
